Fields — Terms of Use

01 Acceptance of these terms

By installing, launching, or using Fields (“the app”) you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please delete the app. These Terms form a binding agreement between you (“you”, “the user”) and The Gaurav Rangnekar Company, an independent software studio (“GRCo.”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

02 About Fields

Fields is a personal information vault that allows you to create custom text fields (single-line or multi-line), securely store values, hide or reveal sensitive content, copy values, and search your saved data. The app also allows you to export fully encrypted backups to a storage location of your choice, including iCloud Drive or other locations supported by the iOS Files app. All data is stored locally on your device and protected using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.

03 Licence grant

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, royalty-free licence to install and use Fields on any Apple device that you own or control, strictly for your personal, non-commercial use, through the Apple App Store.

04 No account required

Fields does not require you to create an account, register an email, or provide any identifying information. You are solely responsible for the security of your device, your passcode, and your biometric enrolment.

05 Your data & responsibility

• All data you create in Fields is stored on your device, encrypted at rest.
• You own your data. We have no access to it, and no ability to recover it.
• If you lose your device and have not exported the encrypted backup, the data cannot be recovered by anyone. This is intentional.
• You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of the information you choose to save in Fields.
• Fields is not a substitute for an official identity document, licence, or legal record.

06 iCloud Drive & External Storage

When you export an encrypted backup, the backup file is stored only in the location you choose, such as iCloud Drive, external storage, or another location supported by the iOS Files app. If you choose to store backups using iCloud or another third-party storage provider, their respective terms and privacy policies additionally apply. We do not have access to your storage accounts or to the encrypted backup contents.

07 Prohibited use

You agree not to:

• Use Fields in violation of any applicable law.
• Use Fields to store data that you are not legally entitled to possess.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the app, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
• Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the app.
• Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices on the app.
• Use the app to build a competing product or service.

08 Intellectual property

The Fields name, logo, design, source code, and associated marketing materials are the intellectual property of The Gaurav Rangnekar Company. All rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms are reserved. The content you store inside Fields remains entirely yours.

09 Updates & availability

We may, from time to time, release updates to Fields. Updates are delivered through the Apple App Store and are subject to these Terms unless the update is accompanied by a separate licence. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the app (in whole or in part) at any time; in that case, any data already on your device remains with you.

10 Disclaimer of warranties

Fields is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.

11 Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will The Gaurav Rangnekar Company be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) Fields, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Total aggregate liability arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the app in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 5.

12 Indemnity

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Gaurav Rangnekar Company from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (a) your use of the app, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any law or any rights of a third party.

13 Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use Fields. You may terminate at any time by deleting the app. We may terminate or suspend your licence immediately if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and governing law) will survive.

14 Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the principal place of business of The Gaurav Rangnekar Company, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at that location, except where mandatory consumer-protection law grants you additional rights in your country of residence.

15 Apple App Store additional terms

Because Fields is distributed through the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply and, where inconsistent with other provisions of these Terms, shall prevail with respect to the Apple App Store distribution:

• These Terms are concluded between you and The Gaurav Rangnekar Company only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
• The licence granted to you for Fields is limited to a non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms.
• Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for Fields.
• In the event of any failure of Fields to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession and use of it.
• You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance of the Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

16 Changes to these terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will additionally be surfaced in-app on next launch. Continued use of Fields after a change indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
